What Is PTSD?Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a terrifying event such as a serious accident, or physical or sexual assault in adult or childhood.
What Are The Symptoms Of PTSD?Symptoms vary and may include distressing dreams or flashbacks of the event. Reminders of the event(s) can trigger stressful memories, be they people, places, objects, or situations. Negative thoughts and feeling about oneself can cause ongoing fear, guilt, anger or shame. Reactions may include detachment, anger, irritability, recklessness, and impaired concentration or sleep. Depression and anxiety are common symptoms.

EMDR TherapyEMDR therapy is proven effective in treating PTSD and trauma. EMDR bypasses the talk circuits and desensitizes the deeper emotional triggers that make living with the anxiety and depression of PTSD such a challenge. I understand what you are going through and can help.
Somatic/Sensorimotor TherapySomatic therapy or body therapy uses the mind-body as a path to uncover and treat deep trauma. Somatic therapy is a gentle way to use our body sensations to increase awareness of the triggers and effects, gradually reducing the anxiety and depression. Therapy is based on caring, focused on the heart.
Different people have different tolerances for dealing with their trauma. First, we work on giving you lots of ways to tolerate BIG energy/emotions. Some of these include deep breathing, grounding, centering, visualizations of a safe place, etc.
Next, we decide what healing method is right for you. I use EMDR and Somatic therapy techniques. Catherine M.
