Catherine M. Blake, MA, LPC, Certified Therapist in EMDR
Trauma/Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) Counseling
Trauma can be an invisible demon affecting your actions even though you are not aware.
Some of these are longterm health-related issues like depression, low energy, digestive problems, frequent crying, abrupt mood swings, trouble sleeping, or inability to bond with others.
If there was a recent event, you might avoid certain circumstances, sensitivity to light and sound, difficulty dealing with stress, exaggerated startle or emotional reactions, amnesia.
I can help you!
Different people have different tolerances for dealing with their trauma. First, we work on giving you lots of ways to tolerate BIG energy/emotions. Some of these include deep breathing, grounding, centering, visualizations of a safe place, etc.
Next, we decide what healing method is right for you. I use EMDR and Somatic therapy techniques.
EMDR therapy is proven effective in treating PTSD and trauma. EMDR bypasses the talk circuits and desensitizes the deeper emotional triggers that make living with the anxiety and depression of PTSD such a challenge. I understand what you are going through and can help.
Somatic therapy or body therapy uses the mind-body as a path to uncover and treat deep trauma. Somatic therapy is a gentle way to use our body sensations to increase awareness of the triggers and effects, gradually reducing the anxiety and depression. Therapy is based on caring, focused on the heart.
